Yud (י) is the 10th letter in the Hebrew Alphabet. Yud is used in G-d's name and is considered as holding spiritual power in it.
The fact that it is a small letter, "hanging in the air" compared to the other letters - it does not touch the bottom line of text but hovers above, adds to the spiritual elevation this letter receives in Jewish perceptions.
The letter Yud, in this interpretation, is the connecting spark between the upper and the lower worlds; it is the point of connection between our spiritual connection and alignment with the Divine, while directing us towards being grounded in the 'lower' levels of life - the material daily vicissitudes of life.
Yud stands for Yahadot (יהדות) - Judaism; here, it Judaism is seen as the white, pure essence of our Divine soul, as Judaism provides us with a comprehensive roadmap to finding our godly essence and divine spark.
This divine spark is most noticeable in the dark. The dark is also when Ye'raat Hashem (יראת השם) hits us hardest. It is in the middle of the most confusing and darkest times that the divine spark of G-d is easier to notice - it is at those exact times of deep struggle that we need to cling to it and allow this divine pure faith root us both in our reality and in our spiritual unseen reality of our divine existence.

In this alphabet art series I explore biblical and Jewish-spiritual ideas, as they reflect through the shapes or associated meaning of each letter.
This project is based on my personal musing and not on any Jewish teachings. Any connection to other teachings is unintentional.
My hope is that through this art we get a deeper glimpse into our realities, our worlds illusions and the hope that can be found in the power of the Hebrew letters.
