Psalm 3

This Psalm is one of the opening statements of King David; gratitude to G-d for creating the environment that allowed David to be saved. This description is almost an afterthought of the events - a reflection of what had happened; a journal of a man who was just barely saved from those who had been running after him. This statement of faith in G-d is one that will only become deeper as David delves into his fears and struggles in the Psalms to come.
A song for David;
As he was running away from Avshalom, his Son.
G-d, how numerous are my enemies,
Many are rising against me.
Many are saying of my soul:
“He will not find his redemption in the fullness-unity of G-d.”
And You, G-d, defend for me my honour,
You rise up mu head.
My voice will call towards G-d,
And He will answer me from His wholesome Holy mountain.
I lay down and slept,
I only woke up because G-d supported me, as I leaned on Him.
I will not fear the myriads of people who have come to overtake me.
Rise, G-d, save me my Lord,
For I have struck down all my enemies,
The cheeks of evil You have broken.
The salvation is for G-d,
Over Your people You have given an all-encompassing blessing.
